But it didn't happen overnight. Through trial and error, I have been able to get real results with the Amazon Affiliate Program. And like many writers over here at Hub pages I have discovered how much fun it is to be an Amazon Affiliate. There really is no limits to how much money you can earn with Amazon and how many products you can promote online.

• I like to write reviews on products that I have used and love. This is by far the easiest method because when you write about a product that you are familiar with it means writing about it will come naturally. Also, you will not be spending so much time on research. Think about what are some of your favorite things to do and what are some of your favorite gadgets and such. Then see if they are available for purchase at Amazon. I am shocked at some of the items they sell. There is a huge variety to choose from. For example, we like to make home made ice cream in the summer time, so I wrote a review about the ice cream maker that I use.

• Write about a product that is on your wish list. Why do you want it? Why is it such a great product? Who do you know who has one and how do they like it. What will you do with it once you have it?

• Write about one of the top sellers listed on Amazons website. This is a good one, but it can be very competitive because lots of other affiliates do the same thing. But you can still make money on these products because there is tons of traffic. Be sure to pick a product that has 5 star reviews. And do your research. Read some of the reviews on Amazon to see what people like and hate about the product. Also, do a search on hubpages and see how many other people are writing about this product. After doing this, you may decide to pick a different product.
• Write about a topic that you are passionate about. Then go to Amazon and tie in some products that someone might like. For example if you are passionate about horses, you may want to list some books about the subject. Or perhaps list some horse artwork or posters. Someone who love Yoga, may add some yoga mats in their Amazon capsule.
• This is my favorite trick! I like to open my Amazon Orders report and see if anyone has purchased a product that I am not already promoting. This is a huge tip! I noticed that someone purchased an item on my hub and while they were at Amazon, they purchased a few more items. I went to the Amazon and saw that the product they purchased was getting great reviews. So I created a hub about that product and by the following week had two orders.

Amazon is one of the many companies on the internet that offer an affiliate program or associate program as they call it. I'm not sure it's the best affiliate company out there since they only offer up to 8% comission on sales and at most a 24 hour cookie. I thought that signing up as an Amazon affiliate would be the same as signing up for Adsense or Ebay, in that one affiliate code would cover the whole globe, and that no matter where someone lived, when they clicked on my Amazon products it would magically show them products from their part of the world. NOT SO!

Each Countries' Amazon is Separate

Each country has it's own seperate Amazon business which means that if you are signed up for Amazon.co.uk then people living in America (or in any other part of the world) will not be able to buy your products. I made this mistake on my hubpages account and my website. Only those living in the UK were able to buy from my website which is pretty rubbish seeing as most of my visitors come from the US.

Amazon Affiliate Settings for Hubbers

This knowledge is especially important for hubbers as Hubpageswill only show products from Amazon.com which is based in America. So if you have diligently typed in your amazon.co.uk, amazon.jp or any other countries amazon code in your affiliate settings it will look like it's working fine but you will not make a bean!

How to Check your Amazon Affiliate Settings in HubPages

Go to My Account, then click on Affiliate Settings. Scroll down to where your affiliate codes are. Your amazon affiliate code should end in the number 20. If it does then everything is fine, as 20 is the number that shows an amazon.com affiliate code. If your affiliate code shows any other number at the end then you have your settings wrong and you will need to apply for an amazon.com associate account instead.
